RENTON:  Starting September 22, 2008, King County Metro bus route 153 will run continuously from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. weekdays, between the transit centers in Renton and Kent. This enhanced service is thanks to a partnership between King County Metro Transit and the cities of Kent and Renton. Previously bus service on this route was limited to peak hours.

The 12 new midday trips will help people travel to jobs, shopping and other destinations in both cities - and to connect other Metro or Sound Transit services to and from Bellevue, Seattle, SeaTac, Auburn and other areas.

Route 153’s extra service comes from a "service partnership" of Metro, Kent and Renton. Metro covers two-thirds of the cost through the voter-approved Transit Now initiative, while the cities share the remaining third for five years.

Other Transit Now additions or changes in September in South King County affect the following Metro routes: 143, 157, 161, 164, and 915.  For additional details visit http://transit.metrokc.gov/.
