RENTON:  The City of Renton has partnered with eGov Alliance to provide expanded online services to the citizens of Renton, including a new online mapping function and a shared procurement portal, making it easier for government and businesses to work together. These new services complement existing online building permit application services and comprehensive real estate listing functions currently provided by eCityGov via the city’s website. By partnering with eGov the city is able to provide expanded online functions and reduce the amount of staff time required to manage the services, saving the city time and money, and more convenient for customers.

“The City of Renton is committed to providing excellent service to our citizens while using tax dollars wisely,” said Renton Mayor Denis Law. “By providing these services online we are able to provide greatly improved service to our citizens and save taxpayers money in the process.”

"Our services offer an unparalleled level of regional service for our citizens and businesses,” “We welcome the City of Renton as the Alliance’s first new full partner city,” said John Backman, Executive Director, eCityGov Alliance.  “The city is joining with nine other regional cities to develop new web-based services to improve service to our citizens and business.  Not only does Renton benefit by sharing the cost of the Alliance services, but the Alliance benefits greatly through Renton’s participation in managing and supporting the online services.”

New online services provided in partnership with eCityGov will include:

  • is a regional website that consolidates procurement services of public agencies in Washington State in order to make it easier for government and businesses to work together. The City of Renton will be utilizing this new Shared Procurement Portal as a means of soliciting and notifying businesses and contractors about potential opportunities to respond to bids and proposals, as well as purchasing goods, materials, and services.
  • is a web portal that provides interactive GIS (Geographic Information Services) and other property data for public use. provides commonly used “layers” of GIS data such as parcels, streets, parks, aerial photos, zoning, schools and many others. The web portal also provides demographic and county assessor data for each parcel. Users can quickly zoom in on cities, neighborhoods or individual properties. It is also possible to build customized maps by combining different layers of information.

Existing online services provided in partnership with eCityGov include:

  • simplifies the process of applying for and receiving permits from the city, streamlines the application process, and reduces confusion by eliminating multiple and overlapping service delivery boundaries. Contractors and citizens can use the web portal to obtain any number of simple permits from member jurisdictions with a single transaction. The site also offers online inspection scheduling and permit status and provides access to a library of construction tip sheets, inspection checklists and other construction related resources.
  • provides comprehensive listings of commercial property for sale and lease, demographic reports, and public data. Features include the ability to: search for commercial property across one or more cities/counties; review search results with interactive map or text list; get detailed information including property features, unit information and descriptions; view demographic reports, nearby business listings and public data; view aerial maps; and find contact information for listing agents and local economic development manager contact information.
