FilmFrenzy2011Write, shoot, edit and turn in a four-minute masterpiece in 50 hours. That was the challenge faced by 17 filmmaking teams October 7-9 during the fourth annual Renton FilmFrenzy.

The results of all the teams’ hard work will be on display the week of October 24 when Renton hosts the first Renton FilmFrenzy Screening at the Renton Civic Theatre, the Curvee Gala Awards at the Renton IKEA Performing Arts Center, and the Renton FilmTalk at the three downtown locations.

This year’s competition features seven student crews and ten open division filmmaking teams. Starting at 5 p.m. Friday, October 7, filmmakers had 50 hours to complete their film, with the product completely shot in Renton. The filmmakers also had to incorporate three “CurveBall” challenges into their work: a line of dialogue about aerospace in Renton, a scene filmed at the Renton Harvest Festival/Chamber of Commerce Business Expo, and a piece of public art in Renton.

This year’s judges included Dustin Kaspar, Seattle International Film Festival; Dan Molvar, MagicHour Films; Jim Dever, KING 5 TV; Bill Huls, Renton Municipal Arts Commission; and Teresa Mozur, Reel Grrls.

The public will have the opportunity to view the films during three free events next week:
