Students Seeking Community Service

It is becoming more and more popular for middle and high school-age students to seek volunteer opportunities, and apply those efforts towards community service credits at school, job applications, resumes, and college applications. However, oftentimes there are not volunteer opportunities readily available.  As such, we suggest students explore the following ideas:

  • See Spotlight Opportunity below
  • Check out the variety of City Departments listed to the left of this page
  • Look at the Community Opportunities to the left of this page
  • Visit www.uwkc.org (the website for United Way King County)
  • Look in the volunteer opportunities section of the local newspaper (often located near the community calendar listings)
  • Contact churches in the nearby community or neighborhoods
  • Contact thrift stores, clothing banks, food banks, or The Salvation Army

For additional assistance or to plan a project for your school group, contact us at 425-430-6600.

Renton Youth Council (RYC) Renton Youth Council

The Renton Youth Council (RYC) is a wonderful way to get involved in your community. RYC consists of teens that live in or attend middle or high school in Renton. Working with our Recreation Division Staff, the group organizes activities, educates the public about youth issues, and volunteers at community events.  Contact the Renton Community Center at 425-430-6700 for more information.
