Renton History Museum building in 1944 and 2015
Located in an historic Art Deco firehouse, the Renton History Museum offers changing exhibits, programs, publications, and events to share Renton’s stories, past and present. The Museum is situated in historic downtown Renton and is surrounded by local shops and restaurants, offers free parking, and is close to the library and Liberty Park.

The Renton History Museum is jointly supported by the City of Renton and the Renton Historical Society, a 501(c)3. The Museum’s home is the 1942 Renton Fire Station No. 1; it is the last existing structure in the area built under the Works Progress Administration (WPA).

 

Mission Statement

The Museum’s mission is to preserve, document, interpret, and educate about the history of greater Renton in ways that are accessible to diverse people of all ages.

Renton Historical Society

The Renton Historical Society (RHS) is a non-profit organization that provides private sector support for the Museum. The RHS offers memberships to anyone interested in supporting the Museum’s mission to document, preserve, and educate about the history of the area. 

RHS Board of Trustees meet at the Museum on the last Tuesday of every month (except July and December) at 5:30 p.m. The meetings are open to the public and visitors are welcome.
