Contact Information

N 27th Place Bridge spans over Kennydale Creek in the City of Renton. The existing structure is nearly 20 years old. It is classified as scour critical. In 2014, the City of Renton applied for  Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Bridge funds to design, acquire right-of-way for access and conduct scour repairs and install scour countermeasures. The City of Renton has been awarded $0.6 million in FHWA funding for the project.

Project location

Existing N 27th Place Bridge (Culvert):

The structure was built in 2000 as part of the Clover Creek Development, located in the lower Kennydale area. It is a single span comprised of three-sided precast concrete shallow arch segments that are founded on reinforced concrete spread footings. A portion of the north footing, at the upstream end of the culvert, has been undermined by the creek.

Repairs for N 27th Place Bridge (Culvert):

The void(s) under the north footing will be filled and scour countermeasures will be installed to prevent further scour damage.

Street Closure for Construction:

Due to the topography of the site, a large crane will be needed for construction. It will occupy the street on top of the culvert for the majority of construction activities. Therefore, N 27th Place will be closed at the culvert, while the project is constructed.

Street closure extent

Construction:

The construction contract was awarded on May 7, 2018 to SB Structures, LLC.

Construction Schedule:

Construction starts on July 16, 2018. Street closure starts July 16, 2018. Street closure ends August 31, 2018. Check this web page for schedule updates.
