Project Description

The extension will modify the existing intersection of Park Avenue N/Logan Avenue N/N Southport Drive to create a new public roadway leading north from the intersection. The extension of Park Avenue N will have sidewalks on both sides and a new grade crossing of the BNSF railroad. A new water main will be constructed, and storm drainage installed as part of the project.

Purpose

To accommodate development in the south shore area of Lake Washington in North Renton this project will extend Park Avenue North to provide access to Southport and The Boeing Company. This extension will provide alternative routes and improve circulation to the Landing and the Southport residential/office development. A preliminary concept of the Park Avenue N extension is illustrated in Figure 1.

Design is currently 90% completed, right-of-way acquisition is in progress, and construction is programmed for 2021. Figure 2 illustrates the current project design.

The amount required for this project is estimated to be $8.95 million. This project is funded with a combination of Local Revitalization Financing (LRF) funding and developer contributions.
