The council seat was vacated when holder Armondo Pavone was sworn in as mayor on January 1. Ms. Benedetti will fill the remainder of the seat’s term, which will expire on December 31, 2021.

The council accepted applications for the seat from January 7 to 22, and received 22. After reviewing the applications, each of the six councilmembers nominated one candidate. Those candidates were then interviewed by the entire council in an open public meeting on February 3. A vote was then held at that evening’s council meeting.
