City of Renton Mayor Armondo Pavone appointed to Sound Cities Association Board of Directors
Pavone to serve throughout 2024; set to represent interests of South King County cities including Renton within the organization
RENTON, WA (FEBRUARY 9, 2023) – City of Renton Mayor Armondo Pavone has accepted his appointment to the Sound Cities Association (SCA) Board of Directors. He will serve a two-year term, throughout 2023 and 2024.
"This expanded role with Sound Cities Association represents a terrific opportunity to continue advocacy for projects that benefit the needs of Renton residents and those living in the South Sound area," said Mayor Pavone. "I appreciate the work Renton City Councilmember Ed Prince has done in his past role on the Board of Directors for SCA. I look forward to serving and continuing Renton's voice within the Board in the coming year."
SCA provides a voice for King County cities through leadership in economic and community development, transportation, land use, health, government operations, the environment, education, public safety, social welfare, and other public policy issues.

Sound Cities Association's Board of Directors oversees general activities and establishes broad policies and objectives. In addition, they adopt policy positions, ensure effective organizational planning, recommend the annual budget to the membership, establish the association's mission and purpose, and determine and monitor the association's programs and services while enhancing its public image.
The Association's Board of Directors includes four from the South Caucus (including Renton); four from the North Caucus; one from the Snoqualmie Valley Caucus; one from the South Valley Caucus; the Past President of the Board; the Public Issues Committee (PIC) Chair; and the City Manager/Administrator representative.
Pavone is in the fourth year of his first term as Mayor of Renton, winning election in November 2019. In addition to serving on the Sound Cities Association Board, he serves as an Executive Member on the Puget Sound Regional Council, on the Valley Communications Center (ValleyCom) Board, as an SCA Alternate for the Regional Policy Committee, and on the Administrative Board for SCORE (South Correctional Entity).
Before serving as mayor, Pavone served six years on the Renton City Council from 2014-2019, serving as Council President in 2017 and on the Renton Regional Fire Authority Board. His volunteer work includes roles with Communities in Schools of Renton-Tukwila, the Renton Regional Community Foundation Board, and Renton Rotary.
Mayor Pavone is a fourth-generation Renton resident. His father, John Pavone, retired after serving 25 year on the Renton Police Department. He has also been a Renton bussiness owner since 1985. With their business partner Franco Phillips, Pavone and his wife Angela own and operate The Melrose Grill in Downtown Renton. He attended Shoreline Community College and is a Renton High School Graduate. Mayor Pavone lives on Renton Hill with his wife and two sons.
