Building Codes Effective Date
The 2018 ICC Codes effective date is February 1, 2021.
Emergency Ordinance 5968 (effective April 20, 2020)
The Renton City Council has adopted Emergency Ordinance 5968
(effective April 20, 2020) extending building permits, land use applications,
civil construction permits, and public works permits for an additional 6 months
except those noted below. This extension applies to permits that are
valid (not expired) on April 20, 2020, and were issued or approved between
January 1, 2015 and April 20, 2020. In addition, the City’s Building
Official has authorized a 6-month extension to building permit applications
(not yet issued).
This extension applies to ALL permits with a few exceptions: Temporary Use Permits, Shoreline Permits, and Land Use Applications associated with a Development Agreement, are not extended. The City of Renton's permit system has been updated to automatically add an additional six (6) months to all permits that qualify under this Emergency Ordinance; there is no action needed by an applicant to receive this extension.
