Parks & Recreation Department Seasonal Hiring

The Parks and Recreation Department is hiring for various summer positions for Henry Moses Aquatic Center (HMAC), Maplewood Golf Course, parks, and camps. Below is a brief description of available positions. In addition, our website contains complete job descriptions, requirements, physical demands, work environment, and selection process.

Guest Services

Welcome customers to Henry Moses Aquatic Center, process entrance and rental fees, and assist customers and lifeguards in various ways. This position involves frequent interactions and communication with the public, so excellent customer service is required.

Hourly Rates/Requirements

Guest Services 1: $15.75 / At least 16 years old

Guest Services 2: $16 - $16.50 / At least 18 years old

Guest Services 3: $20 - $24 / At least 18 years old

Lifeguards

A seasonal job opportunity for currently certified lifeguards (or those interested in becoming certified) at Henry Moses Aquatics Center and the beaches at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park and Kennydale Beach Park. Situational awareness and excellent customer service are required.

Hourly Rates/Requirements

Lifeguard 1: $17 – $19.50 / At least 15 years of age

Lifeguard 2: $20 – $22 / At least 15 years of age and minimum 3 years experience as a Lifeguard 1

Lifeguard 3: $23 – $25/ At least 15 years of age and minimum 3 years experience as a Lifeguard 2

Golf Course – Outside Service

Provide cart attendance, monitor the driving range, and provide on-course marshal services at Maplewood Golf Course. Our outside service attendants are vital to ensuring golfers leave the course with a feeling of organization, safety, and the desire to return to play.

Hourly Rates/Requirements

Outside Service: $15.75 - $18.00 / At least 16 years of age.

Golf Course – Laborer

Assist grounds maintenance staff with setting up and maintaining Maplewood Golf Course. Work is performed outside. Applicants may be able to work nine months between March and November.

Hourly Rates/Requirements

$16 - $20 / At least 16 years of age

Golf Course – Pro Shop Counter Staff

Assist customers in the Pro Shop at Maplewood Golf Course. The schedule varies; hours can range from 16 – 40 hours per week through November.

Hourly Rates/Requirements

Outside Service: $15.75 – $19 / At least 18 years of age and at least 1 year of retail experience.

Parks Laborer or Boat Launch Attendant

These seasonal positions maintain city parks and trails and assist at the Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park boat launch. Applicants may work up to a six-month duration between April and October, working part-time or up to 40 hours per week.

Hourly Rates/Requirements

Outside Service: $20 – $25 / Must possess a valid driver's license.

Recreation Leader 1,2,3 - Summer Day Camp

Recreation Leaders assist our recreation program coordinator and other city staff with planning, preparing, and implementing field trips, the set-up and take down of special events, crafts, music, games, and STEM instruction for youth aged 6-17. This position is also responsible for security, and general cleaning of the facility.

Hourly Rates/Requirements

Recreation Leader 1: $15 / At least 16 years of age

Recreation Leader 2: $16 – $17 / At least 17 years of age and minimum 3 years experience, previous work or volunteer experience in recreation, teaching, or day camp environment.

Recreation Leader 3: $20 – $25 / At least 18 years of age (some positions may require at least 21) and 4 – 8 years of previous work, or volunteer, experience related to the designated or assigned recreation program.
