Seasonal positions now available for Parks and Recreation Department

With spring and summer approaching, the city's Parks and Recreation Department is hiring for seasonal positions.

RENTON, WA (MARCH 4, 2024) – The Parks and Recreation Department is currently hiring for part-time seasonal positions at Henry Moses Aquatic Center, Maplewood Golf Course, Renton Community Center, Highlands Neighborhood Center, Renton Farmers Market and city parks, with positions ranging from guest services, lifeguards, parks maintenance laborers, and recreation leaders.

These seasonal positions hold high importance in how the city upholds parks maintenance standards and increased demands of spring and summer activities. Current open positions and details based on the upcoming season:

April through October

  • Parks Laborer or Boat Launch Attendant: These seasonal positions maintain city parks and trails and assist at the Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park boat launch. Work is performed outside. Applicants must possess a valid driver's license. Hourly rates range from $20-$25, depending on experience.
  • Farmers Market Laborer: Plan & coordinate logistics, implement the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), assist with recruitment, develop and deliver communications materials, and help set up and tear down each market day. Applications are available starting April 1.

March through November

  • Maplewood Golf Course – Laborer: Assist grounds maintenance staff with setting up and maintaining Maplewood Golf Course. Work is performed outside. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. Hourly rates range from $17-$20, depending on experience.
  • Maplewood Golf Course – Pro Shop Counter Staff: Assist customers in the Pro Shop at Maplewood Golf Course. The schedule varies. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Hourly rates range from $17-$20, depending on experience.

Late May through early September

  • Lifeguards: A seasonal job opportunity for currently certified lifeguards (or those interested in becoming certified) at Henry Moses Aquatics Center and Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park. Hourly rates range from $18-$26, depending on experience.
  • Guest Services: Welcome customers to Renton Community Center, Senior Center, and/or Henry Moses Aquatic Center, process entrance and rental fees, and assist customers in various ways. Hourly rates range from $16.50-$26, depending on experience.

Ongoing

  • Maplewood Golf Course – Outside Service: Provide cart attendance, monitor the driving range, and marshal services at Maplewood Golf Course. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. Hourly rates range from $16.50-$20, depending on experience.
  • Recreation Leaders: Recreation Leaders assist our recreation staff with planning, preparing, and leading summer camps, athletic programs, events and other recreation programs. Hourly rates range from $16.50-$26, depending on years of experience.
