Construction Project

Site Improvements (April 2022 to Spring 2023)

Drawing of the Kiwanis Park Master Plan

Built in the 1960s, Kiwanis Park is now over 60 years old and shows signs of aging and is in need of accessibility improvements. The park is currently closed for construction.

Major site improvements for the park include:

  • Accessible entrances and looped walkway

  • Playground replacement

  • Parking renovation

  • Activity building demolition

  • New picnic shelter and paved parent plaza

  • Portland Loo restroom

  • Basketball/sports court renovation

  • Ball field improvements with a synthetic all-weather surface infield and natural turf multi-purpose field

  • Ball field backstop updates with covered dugouts

  • New park signs

CPTED (Crime Prevention through Environmental Design) standards was used throughout the design process.

The construction contract was awarded to Terra Dynamics, Inc. Funding for the project includes 2019 Renton Parks Bond funds, Parks Impact Mitigation Fees, 2019 King County Proposition No. 1 Parks, Recreation, Trails and Open Space Levy funding, and local funding.

Construction is currently underway at the park. Completion is scheduled for Spring 2023.
