False Alarm Ordinance

Responding to and processing false alarms has cost the City of Renton an average of $350,000 per year over the last three years, with both the number of alarms and costs continuing to increase. To alleviate this situation, the city has entered into an agreement with CryWolf False Alarm Solutions to reduce false alarms and free police officers to spend more time on higher priority tasks. CryWolf also administers almost all aspects of the false alarm reduction program including alarm registration, billing, statements, appeal processing, and collections freeing up staff time.

The program is anticipated to be up and running in April or May 2019. Until then, residents do not need to take any action. Before the program goes into effect we will notify the public via the city website, mailers and social media.
