Calling all Renton sidewalk chalk artists

City of Renton presents “Chalk Your Walk” on May 4-10

Families can pick up a free chalk kit at community sites from May 1-3

RENTON, WA - The City of Renton invites sidewalk chalk artists of all ages and abilities to take part in the first “Chalk Your Walk” on May 4-10.

The city’s Recreation & Neighborhoods division created the event to encourage neighborhoods to decorate their sidewalks, driveways, etc. to entertain and bring joy.

For inspiration, the city offers these daily themes, but creativity and individuality are encouraged.

Monday: Message Monday. Create a message or drawing to inspire others during “Stay Home, Stay Healthy.”

Tuesday: Who’s Your Superhero? Not all superheroes wear capes! Give thanks to essential workers like doctors, nurses, first responders, military, mail carriers, grocery store clerks and many more.

Wednesday: Wellness Wednesday. Create a hopscotch board, an obstacle course or other exercises. Be creative and get moving!

Thursday: Throwback Thursday. Share what you miss the most while social distancing: school, parks, shopping, coffee shops? Share it!

Friday: Fantasy Friday. Add some fantasy to your Friday! Unicorns, knights, dreamy castles or Renton’s own dragon, Erasmus.

Saturday & Sunday: Weekend Warriors. Complete any remaining space with your own unbelievable art scape for pure viewing pleasure!

Recreation & Neighborhoods will provide one free chalk kit per family at the following drive-thru locations. There will be 100 buckets at each location.

Friday, May 1
10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Renton Community Center (1715 Maple Valley Hwy)
