Call for performers and designers - Renton Multicultural Festival, May 6 and 7

Sixth annual community event returns in 2022 as an in-person event

RENTON, WA – The City of Renton is looking for interested performers, including artists, musicians, dance groups, fashion designers, and others to participate in the sixth annual Renton Multicultural Festival on May 6 and 7, 2022.

The citywide celebration of Renton’s vast cultural diversity returns to an in-person event in 2022. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the festival was virtual in 2020 and not held in 2021.

The festival annually features a wide variety of performers whose talents demonstrate their culture and individuality. Performers will share how their art supports their culture and/or engage with festival attendees in a brief demonstration.

Day two of the festival will also feature a fashion show. Designers are asked to apply and display original work reflective of Renton’s diverse culture.

If you or your group are interested in performing or participating in the fashion show, please complete the online application. The submission deadline is April 4, 2022, and performers/participants selected will be notified by April 8. Performers are compensated.

On Friday, May 6, the festival’s opening night will be held at Renton Civic Theatre from 6 to 9 p.m. Day two, Saturday, May 7, will be at the Renton Pavilion Event Center and Piazza Park in downtown Renton, starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m.

Questions can be directed to Linda Moschetti-Newing in the city’s Equity, Housing, and Human Services Department at 425-430-7394 or [email protected].

The Renton Multicultural Festival is supported in part by grants from the City of Renton and Renton Municipal Arts Commission.
