RENTON, WA – Public Health – Seattle & King County recommends that the swimming beach at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park be closed effective July 30 until further notice because of high bacteria levels in the water.

People and pets should not swim or wade at this beach, drink lake water, or engage in other water-contact activities.

Weekly testing by King County showed a three-week average bacteria geomean of 233 CFU/100 mL, above the threshold of 200. The next results are expected by Wednesday, August 5, to help determine when the beach can be reopened. The three-week average must be at or below 200 CFU/100ml before the beach can open.

Please visit the King County Lake Swimming Beach Bacteria web page or contact King County by email or phone (206) 477-4800 for more information. Thank you for your cooperation.
