City of Renton seeks candidates for Renton River Days Advisory Board

RENTON, WA (APRIL 14, 2023) – The City of Renton is seeking candidates to serve on the Renton River Days Advisory Board.

River Days is Renton’s annual celebration of community and the arts. “Where Community Grows" is the theme for the July 20-23, 2023, event. The celebration is designed for all ages and includes a picnic for seniors (July 20), a parade through downtown (July 22), and musical entertainment and tournaments (July 21-23).

The nine-person advisory board assists with the city’s goal of creating and maintaining a vibrant community by promoting understanding and appreciation of our diversity through celebrations and festivals. Members help plan and implement programming, develop partnerships, and identify event trends.

Six of the nine board members must live within the Renton city limits. The three remaining positions may reside outside of city limits, but at least one must reside within Renton School District boundaries. Board membership includes one youth member, who must be between 18 and 25 when their membership is confirmed.

Members serve without compensation and must be able to attend meetings either in person at Renton City Hall or via Zoom on the first Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m.

Applications are available on the city’s website, at Renton Community Center (1715 Maple Valley Highway, 98057), at Don Persson Senior Activity Center (211 Burnett Ave. N, 98057), or by calling 425-430-6700 to have one mailed. Applications can also be completed online at the city’s website.

Unless submitted online, return completed applications to Jennifer Spencer at the Community Center or mail to the City of Renton, Mayor’s Office, Renton City Hall, 7th Floor, 1055 South Grady Way, Renton, WA 98057. Applications must be received by 5 p.m. on May 15, 2023.
