Renton Municipal Arts Commission (RMAC)

The Renton Municipal Arts Commission (RMAC) was create on August 9, 1965 through Resolution 1320. The Commission manages an annual budget and advises the city on growing and works to connect people with arts and culture in Renton. Their goals are to:

  • Get more people involved and aware of Renton's cultural and artist community.
  • Be the go-to source for arts information in Renton.
  • Find more funding for arts and culture programs.
  • Support arts education at all levels.
  • Help the city with arts projects and public art.  


Grants / Grant Application

In 2026, the grant application process will consist of four (4) district funding rounds, providing multiple opportunities for individuals and organizations to secure financial support for their projects. The deadlines to apply for funding are as follows:

• 1st Round - October 24, 2025

• 2nd Round - February 6, 2026

• 3rd Round - April 17, 2026

• 4th Round - July 18, 2026

We’re excited to support creative projects that bring people together and offer fresh ways for our community to connect. This grant program is designed with flexibility in mind, making it possible to fund a wide variety of projects and ideas.

Awards typically range from $500 to $10,000 and support projects taking place in 2026, with all activities to be completed by December 15, 2026.

Renton Municipal Arts Commission Speak for the Arts Picture

The City of Renton has three (3) open positions on the Renton Municipal Arts Commission (RMAC), including one youth commissioner position (ages 15-20), and we'd like for you to join us! As part of the RMAC, you will help shape the arts and culture in our city. You'll work with the mayor and city council on art projects, oversee city-funded displays, support arts education, and help get more people involved in the arts.

We're looking for three (3) individuals to join for a three-year term. Applications are due by the end of September to be considered for a position on the Commission this year. Applications will be reviewed and applicants will be invited to attend the Commission meeting on October 7 - attendance is required for consideration this year.

Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. If you're passionate about the arts and want to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you!
