Recreation Program Contractor

Individuals and organizations interested in offering programs and services through the City of Renton are encouraged to apply. For fee-based programs administered by contractors, the standard revenue split is 70% to the contractor and 30% to the City. The City of Renton manages registration and fee collection for all activities.

Seasonal Timeline

Recreation programs operate on a seasonal schedule. Please follow the application deadlines below:

  • Fall Season (September–December): Applications due June 15
  • Winter Season (January–April): Applications due October 15
  • Spring/Summer Season (May–August): Applications due February 15 

Contractor Requirements

Before applying, please review the requirements below. As a City of Renton Recreation Contractor, I agree to:

  • Provide a Certificate of Insurance naming the City of Renton as additionally insured
  • Maintain an active City of Renton business license
  • Enter into a formal contract with the City of Renton
  • Submit a program outline for approval and adhere to it unless changes are mutually approved
  • Meet all required deadlines
  • Establish and enforce participant conduct and facility use rules approved by the Parks and Recreation Department
  • Follow and enforce the Facility Code of Conduct
  • Always provide appropriate supervision (minimum ratio of 1:10); participants and facilities must never be left unattended
  • Understand contracts are typically one year, with the option to extend to two years upon mutual agreement
  • Ensure all staff/volunteers are at least 16 years old, with at least one adult (18+) present, at all times
  • Verify staff/volunteers hold current certifications, including CPR and First Aid, as applicable
  • Complete background checks for all staff and volunteers working in programs
  • Ensure instructors are qualified and experienced
  • Deliver high-quality, inclusive programming
  • Maintain required documentation, including medical waivers and accurate attendance records
  • Represent the City of Renton professionally at all times
