The Renton Police Department issues CPLs to:

• Residents who live within Renton city limits
• Out-of-state residents

Having a Renton mailing address does not always mean you live within Renton city limits. Some areas with a Renton postal address are served by the King County Sheriff’s Office.

Apply for an original CPL

Fingerprinting is required for original CPL applications.

Bring the following to your appointment:

• Completed CPL Application(PDF, 554KB)
• Valid photo ID
• $48 application fee

Payment must be made at the first-floor Finance Counter before your fingerprint appointment.

Renew or replace a CPL

Processed in person: Monday – Friday - 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Fingerprinting is not required for renewals, late renewals, or replacements.

Bring:

• Completed CPL Application(PDF, 554KB)
• Valid photo ID
• Current CPL (if available)
• Applicable fee

Fees:

• Renewal (within 90 days before expiration): $32
• Late renewal (within 90 days after expiration): $42
• Replacement CPL: $10
