Southbound I-405 Weekend Closure: April 24-27

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has scheduled a full closure of southbound Interstate 405 from State Route (SR) 169 to SR 167 beginning 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 24, to 4 a.m. Monday, April 27.
WSDOT crews will install drainage, replace concrete pavement panels and pave the roadway, as part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.
SB I-405 closure details
The following ramps will be closed:
- SR 169/SR 900 on-ramp to southbound I-405
- Southbound I-405 off-ramp to SR 515/Talbot Road South (Exit 3)
- Southbound I-405 off-ramp to southbound SR 167/Auburn/Rainier Avenue South (Exit 2)
- Southbound I-405 HOV ramp to SR 167
The southbound I-405 off-ramp to SR 169/SR 900 (Exit 4) will remain open.
A signed detour route will be in place.
Travelers are also advised of a full eastbound SR 18 closure for paving work from Thursday, April 23 to Monday, April 27, as part of the I-90 – SR 18 Interchange Improvements project.
“Know before you go," travel during off-peak hours or, if possible, delay discretionary travel to help minimize backups.
Work is dependent on good weather and may be rescheduled. I-405 schedule updates will be available on the project webpage, WSDOT’s Travel Center map, the WSDOT mobile app and by signing up for King County email updates.
