Renton Student Health Hub Ribbon Cutting 2025

RENTON, WA (OCTOBER 30, 2025) –  The City of Renton, Renton School District, and HCP OneHealthPort joined nonprofit and healthcare partners to celebrate the success and continued growth of the Renton Student Health Hub, a collaborative initiative aimed at improving student access to behavioral health and housing services.

At a roundtable and celebration event held on October 30 at the Renton Highlands Neighborhood Center, Mayor Armondo Pavone joined leaders from across the community to recognize the shared investment and impact of the Health Hub, which now serves all 26 schools in the Renton School District and has connected more than 100 students to direct care to date.

“One of our city’s top priorities is investing in the well-being of our community,” said Mayor Pavone. “The Renton Student Health Hub is a powerful example of upstream solutions in action—meeting students where they are and supporting their health before challenges become crises. Together, we’re building the infrastructure needed to support our young people and provide early support at the first signs of challenges – when it’s needed.”

The event provided an open conversation around the strengths and opportunities found within the first year of the Student Health Hub's implementation. The program is made possible through a partnership between the City of Renton, Renton School District, and HCP OneHealthPort.

Together, these partners ensure students can access critical behavioral health and housing services directly within their school environment. This approach reduces barriers to care and supports long-term community resilience.

“Our partnership with the City of Renton and HCP OneHealthPort to offer the Renton Student Health Hub is vital to our duty to educate every student. Ensuring students’ health, mental health, and social-emotional needs are met breaks down barriers that impede coming to school every day ready to learn,” remarked Dr. Damien Pattenaude, Superintendent for the Renton School District.

HCP OneHealthPort works in conjunction with community providers including Akin, ACRS, Atlantic Street Center, Consejo, Kent Youth and Family Services, KSARC, Lutheran Community Services Northwest, Neighborhood House, Safe Crossings Foundation, Seneca, Sound, Valley Cities, and YMCA; financial sponsors including the City of Renton, King County Best Starts for Kids, Washington State Health Care Authority, Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction, Cambia Health Foundation, and research centers including Seattle Children’s and Oregon Health Sciences University.

“HCP OneHealthPort is honored to partner with City of Renton, Renton School District and Renton’s incredible network of care providers to ensure all Renton Students can access the services they need to live their best lives,” said Adam Davis, Director of Community Partnerships and co-founder of HCP OneHealthPort.

The celebration marks a significant milestone in the program’s development, highlighting the power of cross-sector collaboration in addressing community needs. While the work continues, today’s event underscores the progress made and the commitment of all partners to building a stronger, healthier Renton.

Future plans include exploring opportunities to build on this foundation and ensure every Renton student has access to the care and support needed to thrive.
