Utility Systems

The Utility Systems Division is responsible for planning, designing, constructing, operating and maintaining the city's water, wastewater (sewer) and surface water (stormwater) systems. These systems deliver safe drinking water, manage wastewater and protect local lakes, rivers and streams in the City of Renton. We help residents, businesses, and developers with everything from new service connections and final utility bills to construction standards and system planning. We're here to help with any questions about your water, sewer, or stormwater services.

Escrow inquiries - final utility balances

When a property is sold, the escrow process and final utility checks show how much is owed for water, sewer, and stormwater services, including any connection or assessment fees. This helps ensure all utility charges are settled before closing. The sections below explain these charges and how to request information.

Tap, connection, and assessment fees

Tap, connection, and assessment fees are charges for connecting a property to the City's water or sewer system and for covering the cost of past or future utility improvements. For inquiries, use one of the contact options below.
