Recycling Event: Mattress, Box Spring, Cardboard, Tires, and Styrofoam

Attend the June 7 special recycling event hosted by the city's Sustainability and Solid Waste team. Staff will be accepting mattresses, box springs, carboard, Styrofoam, and tires. During the collection, residents can bring:

• Mattresses must be dry and no excessive stains, no bed bugs and no blood stains ($35 cash for each piece)
• Cardboard must be flattened
• Tires for cars, pickup truck & motorcycles
  • Bias ply, steel belted and studded tire accepted (Take tires off rims; limit 10 tires)
• Styrofoam peanuts and bubble wrap (Bagged packing peanuts accepted)
• Clean white block Styrofoam (Look for #6 or EPS inside the recycle symbol)

Items that CANNOT be donated:

• NO semi truck or tractor tires
• NO tape or labels

JUNE 7 ONLY! Donate Used Furniture 

The Furniture Repair Bank will collect gently worn and damaged furniture to be restored, repaired, and then gifted to community members in need. The list below includes the types of items we would like to collect at the event. YOU MUST COMPLETE AN ONLINE APPLICATION BY WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4 at tinyurl.com/repair-bank-renton. You will be notified by June 5 close of business if approved. Picture of item/s required. A limited number of items will be accepted and we reserve the right to reject any item on the day.

Accepted:

• Dining chairs; side, coffee, or dining tables (for 2-6 people)
• Loveseats and small couches
• Dressers
• Shoe racks
• Shelves
• Nightstands
• Lamps
• Mirrors

Items NOT accepted:

• Office or rocking chairs
• Bar stools
• Futons
• Outdoor furniture

Non-perishable food donations will be collected at each event to help Renton neighbors in need. Donations will be provided to the local food bank.
