National Night Out

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community-building event which is held on the first Tuesday of August in cities across the country. The City of Renton and Renton Police Department are leading this event on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. The event is designed to raise awareness about police programs such as the Neighborhood Watch Program and other crime prevention and safety initiatives.

How does it work?

Community members host an event where neighbors can connect, mingle, and strengthen community bonds. They'll send police personnel and other public safety professionals to visit your party – say hello, have conversations, provide resources, and bring some swag!

What is a neighborhood event?

Neighborhood events can range from simple backyard cookouts to block parties – it's up to you!
Backpack Drive: Consider collecting backpacks at your event to help provide youth in-need with backpacks for the upcoming school year.

It is the goal to have teams visit every registered neighborhood event. However, depending on emergency calls for service that evening, they may not be able to guarantee the participation of a uniformed officer. Apply now to bring your community together and celebrate National Night Out with the support of the Neighborhood Program!
