Shred-A-Thon and Prescription Drug Take Back

Join the Renton Police Department to help prevent identity theft and prescription drug abuse. Bring your sensitive personal documents for secure shredding and safely dispose of unused or expired prescription medications.

The Shred-A-Thon is intended for community members' personal sensitive documents only (such as bank or medical papers). We're not able to take organizational or bulk records.

Date: Saturday, April 25, 2026

Time: 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. (*or until trucks are full)

Location: Renton Memorial Stadium, 405 Logan Ave N, Renton, WA 98057

Important Reminders

  • Stay in Your Vehicle: This is a drive-through event. All participants must remain in their vehicles at all times.
  • Prepare Your Items: Before arriving, place all documents and prescription drugs in your trunk, hatchback, or truck bed.
  • Limit: Up to 5 file boxes or bags of paper per vehicle. No commercial or bulk business drop-offs allowed.

Shredding Guidelines

  • Limit: Up to 5 bags/boxes of paper per vehicle (shredded on-site).
  • Remove Metal Items: Paper clips and other metal should be removed (staples are okay).
  • Not Accepted:
    • Plastic items such as bags, packing materials
    • Credit cards, notebooks, DVDs, X-rays
    • Previously shredded documents

Prescription Drug Take Back Guidelines

Accepted Items:

  • Prescription and over-the-counter medications (pills or liquids).
  • Solid doses (capsules, tablets) can be left in the original container or placed in a separate bag.
  • If using the original container, remove or black out personal information on the label.  

Not Accepted:

  • Intravenous solutions, injectables, needles, inhalers, syringes
  • Chemotherapy medications
  • Vaping devices with non-removable batteries
  • Medical waste

Food Drive

We are accepting canned goods, dry goods, and monetary donations to support the Renton Salvation Army.
