Diversity in Law Enforcement Career Workshop

Interested in Becoming a Police Officer?

This free, interactive workshop is designed for adults interested in exploring a career as a police officer and learning how to successfully navigate the hiring process.

Participants will meet officers and recruiters from seven local police agencies, including Auburn, Des Moines, Federal Way, Kent, Port of Seattle, Renton, and Tukwila, and hear firsthand perspectives about the profession, and get answers to their questions.

People of all backgrounds, experiences, and career paths are encouraged to attend. No prior law enforcement experience is required.

What You Will Learn

Participants will:

• The different police officer career opportunities with seven local agencies
• Learn what to expect during the hiring and background process
• Gain insight into written and physical testing
• Learn about the police academy and field training
• Hear directly from officers about the profession
• Connect with recruiters and ask questions
• Receive practical tips for becoming a competitive applicant

Workshop Format

The workshop will include group presentations, small breakout sessions, officer speakers, agency recruitment tables, and opportunities to speak directly with officers and recruiters.
