Since the first Jewish Americans arrival to the United States the community has played critical roles in the advancements of civic, social, economic, and cultural. May is Jewish American Heritage Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the generations of Jewish Americans who help shape the United States. Jewish American Heritage Month is an opportunity to learn about and appreciate the stories and contributions of Jewish Americans throughout history.
During the May 18 city council meeting, Mayor Armondo Pavone designated May, as Jewish American Heritage Month in Renton. Accepting the proclamation was Rabbi Yisroel Treitel from the Chabad Jewish Center of Renton.
Rabbi Treitel shared, “The ideals of freedom and opportunity has allowed Jewish communities to flourish and contribute so much to the broader society.”
The Chabad Jewish Center of Renton offers community-based programing for all ages with the mission of promoting Jewish awareness and pride.
As the 17th most diverse city in the nation, the City of Renton is committed to fostering an inclusive community where all races, identities, and faiths are recognized and celebrated.
