2024

  • November: Diabetes Awareness Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was Renton's City Clerks Officer, Jason Seth.
  • October 21: Filipino American History Month in Renton. Two of the Mayor’s Inclusion Task Force members, Violet Aesquivel and Rolly Polintan, accepted the proclamation.
  • October 14: National Planning Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was the city's Planning Director, Matt Herrera and several of the planners within the city's Community & Economic Development Department.
  • October 7: Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Renton. The proclamation was accepted by Tina Harris, the Renton Police Department's domestic violence advocate. Katya Wojcik, the director of Project Be Free, joined in the designation as this year's highlighted partner. In addition, the following agencies funded by the city were in attendance during the council meeting: Centro Rendu of St. Vincent de Paul, Crisis Connections, Lifewire, ELAP, and DAWN. A full list of all funded agencies available on the city's domestic violence website.
  • September 23: Ready in Renton Month. To accept the proclamation was the city's Emergency Management Director, Deborah Needham.
  • September 16: Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15 -October 15) in Renton. To accept the proclamation was restaurant owner of Santa Fe Mexican Grill, Isidro Rojas.
  • August 5: Farmers Market Week in Renton (August 4-10). To accept the proclamation was Renton Farmers Market Coordinator, Carrie Olson. 
  • July 8: Parks and Recreation Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was City of Renton Parks and Recreation Administrator Maryjane Van Cleave, accompanied by various staff from the department. 
  • July 1: Disability Pride Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was Kristina Brown, Kindering Director of Public Affairs, parent Rome Johnson, and Kari Grimit, Renton campus manager from Kindering.
  • June 17: Juneteenth 2024 in Renton. To accept the proclamation was Danielle Smith, Renton Chamber of Commerce Board Chair and Renton business owner of Café de la Loba.
  • June 10: LGBTQIA+ Pride Month in Renton. The proclamation was accepted by Sara Palmer, President of the Renton LGBTQIA+ Community.
  • May 13:
    • Safe Boating and Paddling Week in Renton (May 18-24). The proclamation was accepted by Debra Alderman from the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla. 
    •  National Public Works Week in Renton (May 19-25). The proclamation was accepted by Public Works Administrator Martin Pastucha.
  • May 6: Professional Municipal Clerks Week in Renton (May 5-11). To accept the proclamation was Renton’s City Clerk and Public Records Officer and frequent speaker during Monday night council meetings, Jason Seth. Featured in the picture includes staff from the City Clerks Division. 
  • April 22: National Volunteer Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was the city's Volunteer Program Coordinator, Teresa Nishi.
  • April 15: Arbor Day / Earth Day in Renton. To accept the proclamation was the city's Urban Forestry & Natural Resources Inspecting Arborist, Gabriella Golzarian.
  • April 8: Sexual Assault Awareness Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was the newly appointed CEO of King County Sexual Assault Resource Center (KCSARC), Kate Kurg.
  • March 18: Developmental Disabilities Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was the city's Adaptive Recreation Coordinator, Steven Kurtz. Featured in the picture are participants from Renton's Adaptive Recreation Program.
  • February 26: Black History Month in Renton. To accept the proclamation was Council President Ed Prince.
  • February 12: Lunar New Year Day. To accept the proclamation was Viet-Wah CEO, Duc Tran and community leader, Michael Chen. 
  • February 5: Renton Rotary Day to Al Ralston, Renton Rotary President.

 

2023

  • November 20: Small Business Saturday (November 25). Josh Shulkind, Executive Director of the Renton Downtown Partnership accepted the proclamation.
  • November 13: Mary Ellen Stone Day. To accept is King County Sexual Assault Resource Center CEO, Mary Ellen Stone as a thanks for her contribution to the Renton community as she moves into retirement.
  • October 9: Hispanic Heritage Month proclamation (EN; ES) (September 15-October 15). To accept was Areesa Bourdon, Mayor's Inclusion Task Force Member and first Latina-owned State Farm Agency in Renton.
  • October 2: Domestic Violence Awareness. Tina Harris, Renton Police Department's Domestic Violence Advocate. 
  • September 25: Ready in Renton Month proclamation (September) to Deb Needham, City of Renton Emergency Management Director. For Ready in Renton tips, Emergency Management Coordinator Michelle Theurer walks through how to prep an at-home emergency.
  • September 18: National Service Dog Month proclamation (September) to Erika Del Castillo and her service dog Kate.
  • September 11: Welcoming Week proclamation (September 8-17) to Maryjane Van Cleave, Equity Housing and Human Services Administrator.

  • June 5: LGBTQIA+ Pride Month. To accept was Lanette Sargeant. A lifelong Renton resident, Lanette is an advocate for education and LGBTQIA+ rights and a board member for the Renton LGBTQIA+ community.
