During the April 6, 2026 City Council meeting, city leaders, staff, community members, and members of the Renton police family gathered for a special presentation, recognizing some of the department’s outstanding team members.

The special celebration started off with a very important introduction to some of the newest members of the Renton Police Department, as Chief Jon Schuldt welcomed wellness dog Oakley, and K9 Jager, accompanied by their handlers Officers David Dougherty and Jaren Jokela.

Animal Control Officer Thomas Wilkinson and Officer Gregory Bills were named Co-Officers of the Year. The two were recognized for their dedication, compassion, and commitment to going above and beyond for our community.

Detective Tracie Jarratt received the Meritorious Service Award for her exceptional 30-year career, including solving a 30-year-old cold case and bringing long-awaited justice in the deaths of Stacey Falcon-Dewey and her son Jacob.

We also celebrated Sergeants Meghan Braun and Casey Proctor, and Commander Denis Moynihan on their well-earned promotions.

Police Chief Schuldt delivered opening remarks at the special presentation, saying, “Policing is not just about enforcement. It’s about service, compassion, and commitment to something larger than ourselves. The members of the department consistently demonstrate professionalism in difficult situations and compassion and dedication to this community even when the job is challenging and often thankless.”

We are proud to have such dedicated individuals serving our community, and we thank them for their service.
