The 2025 Community Survey is complete and results are now available!

An Executive Summary of the results was shared with City Council and our community members at the August 11, 2025, Committee of the Whole meeting.

The City of Renton conducts a survey of our community about every two to four years. The 2025 Community Survey opened in May and concluded in June 2025.

The survey provides important feedback that helps us get a better understanding of the residents' and business community’s experience with city services and helps advise city leaders as they assess future projects and programs that may be desired by the community.

These results are used to help:

  • Evaluate our performance.
  • Inform our performance-based budgeting process.
  • Understand the priorities of our residents and businesses and establish the city’s priorities.
  • Help shape the future of Renton.

We would like to thank those residents who have taken the time to complete the survey when it's conducted, we truly appreciate your participation.

The Process

Conducting a survey of this scale requires a carefully designed methodology to ensure accurate, representative feedback from across the community.

The survey was offered in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tagalog, and Ukrainian, Renton’s six most commonly spoken languages. It was distributed through multiple channels, including mail, email, text messages, and phone calls, to a randomly selected sample of 16,000 Renton households.

In addition, the survey was promoted via the city’s newsletter, website, and in-person outreach at the Renton Farmers Market, neighborhood picnics, and other community events.

2025 Survey Results

A total of 659 surveys were completed. This is consistent with previous years’ response rates and aligned with industry standards for cities of similar size.

Like many cities regionally and nationwide, Renton is facing new challenges that require innovative solutions. Key areas such as crime and public safety, transportation and mobility, affordable housing, and mental health and homelessness support have been identified by residents and the city as top priorities. Continued improvement in these vital areas is essential, and the city remains committed to addressing them effectively.

Despite these challenges, Renton residents consistently express pride and satisfaction in their community. Both the 2023 and 2025 surveys highlight one of the city’s greatest strengths: the outstanding ratings residents give to city employees for their dedication and service.
