During Monday's city council meeting, Mayor Armondo Pavone designated March 2026 as American Red Cross Month. Accepting the proclamation was American Red Cross - King County Chapter, Government Operations and Community Partnerships Coordinator Paul Thomsen.
Thomsen highlighted both proactive and responsive services provided by the American Red Cross. Proactive services include preparedness training like CPR, aquatics safety, and First Aid training. Responsive services include sheltering, family reunification, disaster response, and mental health support.
During the atmospheric river event last December, the American Red Cross was at the forefront, offering emergency sheltering across King County to those impacted.
