June 21 is National Go Skateboarding Day, a time to celebrate skateboarding as a recreational activity and a cultural movement that inspires innovation, determination, and authentic self-expression in communities across nations. Over the years, skateboarding has transformed the way people engage with public spaces, blending movement, expression, and community.

During Monday's city council meeting, Mayor Armondo Pavone designated June 21 as National Go Skateboarding Day in Renton. Lifelong resident and skateboarding enthusiast Mark Arnold accepted the proclamation.

Arnold spoke about how skateboarding serves as an outlet for his emotions and has been the source of lifelong relationships and great memories.

For over 50 years, Renton’s Gravity Sports has served the local skate community! Gravity Sports carries all kinds of skateboards and provide introduction to the skate world to many new skateboarders. Renton Skate Community is thankful for their wealth of knowledge and inclusive spirit when it comes to boarding.
